Are you someone
that can’t stand to see something fail? Are you too busy? Do you work
excessive hours trying to catch up on things?

Maybe you’re
overcompensating.

In the last few
years it seems like almost everyone I know has shared tales of crazy hours and
being stretched too thin at work. I’ve
been there all too often myself. Interestingly, every single one (including me!) felt there was nothing
they could let go without disastrous consequences.

When I consider
the stories, almost every case involved someone overcompensating for an
organizational deficiency: a staff
shortage, an inefficient process, a lack of organizational commitment, or
someone that wasn’t in the right job.

Every case
involved a problem that wasn’t being fixed.

Why?

As long as you’re
killing yourself to overcompensate, no one sees that anything is broken!
