The Seismological Society of America (SSA) is an international scientific society devoted to the advancement of seismology and the understanding of earthquakes for the benefit of society. They publish two journals, Bulletin of the Seismological Society of America and Seismological Research Letters.
Delta Think consultants conducted market research and drew from our extensive academic publishing expertise to create a set of recommendations and concepts for the future of the SSA journals. We included a publication definition, a proposed business model, a high-level description of how the journals might work: potential manuscript sources, submission, editorial, and production workflow, and resource impact.
We then worked closely with the SSA to create, execute, and analyze a market research survey to test the new concepts with the SSA members and customers. Together, these initiatives helped give the SSA the customer feedback and input they needed to make the right decisions going forward.
