Blogging has been an educational opportunity for
me.
One thing I’ve learned is that bloggers love
lists! They (we?) also love to take things and run with them, let them go, and
see what they “morph” into.
Here’s an example.
It started with the Power 150 – a “Global Ranking of
Top English-language Marketing Blogs”.
Kami
Huyse noticed that only 13% of the Power 150 are women. She extracted their
names and blogs from the list and created a PR PowerWomen list in the hope of “amplifying
their voices.”
Valeria
Maltoni decided that the list shouldn’t be limited to PR and Marketing and
created a list to help us all “discover great
blogs authored by women.”
Others have added to the list and here it is.

I’m not sure of the value of the list to those
reading this post. That’s why, while I’m
honored to be included, I was hesitant to post it.
Hopefully you’ll peruse it and click on a link or
two. Maybe you’ll find something that
resonates with your interests.
I do know the list has tremendous value in
encouraging those on it. It encouraged
me when I saw that Valeria had included me! I am honored to have been noticed by her and included in the company of
some fine thinkers, writers, and business people.
The list has also sparked some fascinating
conversation. As Liz Strauss points
out, sometimes
a list is just a list.
Thanks Valeria!
Rebecca:
I have been looking through your blog all morning and I’ve really liked it.
What I LOVE is that you published the M-List (that you created) next to the W-List. That was such a great move!
I personally have never been a believer in being separated out based on gender (for good or for bad). It makes me uncomfortable and it isn’t the message I want to send to others.
I posted the list because I support Liz and Valeria personally, as great thinkers and leaders not because they are women – but because they add value.
Thanks for stopping by!
Ann
Thanks so much for publishing this list. It’s great to be included and to feel the sense of community that has generated from it! I look forward to reading your blog.
Hello Meikah – I’ve made the correction.
Good work everyone! Just a minor edit, please change my last name to Delid, instead of David. Thanks! 🙂
Hi C.B.!
I’m looking forward to checking out your blog. Valeria and Liz put together most of these names – I’m just adding a couple and passing them along!
Ann
Ann, thank you for including Flooring The Consumer in this list of wonderful talented women bloggers!
Hello Philippa!
I love your blog. I wish I had the time to go through this list and categorize it to help those browsing. There are so many varied interests and disciplines represented here.
Ann
Thanks for the generous mention, Ann – and for taking the time to expand upon a group of wonderful women. I look forward to some great browsing!
The W List
Wow…I just discovered I was added to The W List at Ann Michael’s Manage To Change. The W List is a listing of Great Blogs Authored by Women. What a lovely Sunday morning surprise to see ArtLOOK included. Thanks Ann.
Susan – I couldn’t agree more! I’m really not a list person, but this has been fun to watch.
I think this list may have started as one thing but it is evolving into something bigger because everyone is taking it in different directions. Thanks for keeping the conversation going. I know I am finding incredible blogs I would not otherwise have found.
Hi Valeria!
I was going to ask you about that. I just ran across another list that I hadn’t incorporated here – this is like email strands that go off in different directions! I’ll keep an eye out for your master list.
Ann
Ann:
Exactly! It did enliven an otherwise quiet and sticky summer so far 😉 Thank you for your additions, I am attempting a master list, ever the instigator.
