First, Google bought DoubleClick.  According to Business Week, the strategy was to supplement its substantial text ads business with “a vibrant advertising business for banners, videos, and other so-called display ads.”

Many consider that acquisition a serious threat to privacy, giving Google too much information about user’s buying habits.

Almost in response, Yahoo! bought Right Media, an online ad-exchange.

Rupert Murdoch made an unsolicited bid for Dow Jones.

Thomson started talks with Reuters and it’s looking like they might lead to something

Maybe that’s how Thomson plans to spend the cash it will raise when it finalizes the sale of its education assets.

Microsoft was talking to Yahoo again, but that didn’t work out

And now, MySpace bought PhotoBucket.

This was all in the last three weeks.
