Is it more respectful to ignore an issue or to resolve it?
How do you show your colleagues, employer, or employees that you respect them?

Hi Howie! I completely agree. Over the years I’ve seen disillusioned and cynical attitudes that resulted from a management team’s inability (or unwillingness) to tackle the problems that everyone knew were there. Ann
I think it’s better to resolve the issue in a proper manner than to leave it alone which will most likely deal more damage to anyone concerned.
Hi Charlie – You’re definitely correct. I just went over to your blog and saw you had a topic about building trust in the workplace. I usually find that where demonstrated respect is absent – trust usually turns up missing eventually too! Ann
I agree with Dean’s plan. There’s always a solution to every problem. We just need to be open and understanding in every situation.
Wow Dean – that’s great. I especially like the part about acting like people are adults. I’ve also seen where people think they’re “sparing someone” from a difficult conversation when in fact they’re only sparing themselves. By avoiding conflict, they’re slowly torturing the person in question! There’s nothing humane about not dealing with issues. Thanks for a great comment!
How about this for a plan for gaining respect- * Talk about the issues … by talking about it I mean asking questions, responding with as completely as possible, letting people explore the issue and gain insights * Develop solutions based on what resulted from the first step * Implement the changes using the same iterations until solved And above all act like people are adults and can handle the truth of the situation and may have nifty solutions if given the chance. I think people respect that most of all.
