Kathey Alexander established her publishing consulting business in 2001 to provide a broad range of services to professional and scholarly societies and associations. Her areas of expertise include strategic and operational audits of publishing programs, evaluation and examination of publishing contracts and subsequent journal performance, managing society journal RFP processes, Editor-in-Chief searches, exploring new business opportunities, and serving as publisher liaison between society and publisher.
Prior to starting her consulting business, Kathey spent 20 years in medical publishing, where she managed all aspects of commercial and society publishing and all formats of information delivery. Most notably, Kathey was formerly Executive Vice President of Professional Medical Publishing for Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (now Wolters Kluwer), where she was responsible for more than one hundred journals (proprietary and society owned), controlled circulation news magazines and the medical book line, with total annual revenues of over $225 million.
